Don't bury important news
Joseph Ryan's April 3 article concerning Alexi Giannoulias was a well written recap of Giannoulias family bank lending practices. What is unfortunate about this article is the location the Daily Herald elected to publish this important matter.
To bury this article on page nine is a clever attempt to once again have the voters of Illinois hidden about the background of our politicians running for office.
The people of Illinois have lived for too many years with corrupt politicians of both parties and look at what it has gotten the taxpayers. Anyone who has either applied for a mortgage or refinanced an existing mortgage in the last couple years can attest to the scrutiny given even minute events in one's past. To ask voters to believe the fact that Alexi Giannoulias was not informed of the shady loans his family's bank made while he was the bank's senior loan officer is laughable. Twenty million dollars of loans to anyone by any bank would not proceed without detailed reviews at multiple levels.
The Daily Herald needs to let the voters of Illinois decide on their own what they want to believe and what they don't want to believe about current politicians. We don't need a filter by the editorial staff to bury articles in the back of the paper that are very important to the election in November.
