Hospital offers day of health information, speakers for Ladies

Delnor invites you to a "Ladies Day Out" from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at The Q Center in St. Charles. Through the keynote speaker, lecture sessions, informative booths and free screenings, women will find the strength, knowledge and humor they need to face the world. Plus they will receive gifts and have the chance to win prizes.

The keynote presentation by Barb Bancroft is "Moon Pies, French Fries and Thunder Thighs." She will discuss diet and disease and as well as popular alternative therapies in a highly entertaining, presentation. She literally goes through the ABCs of diet from apples to zinc, including myths about certain foods. She provides clever ways to burn calories without a treadmill as well as ways to figure out portion control for weight maintenance and weight loss. Attendees will learn all about multivitamins, cholesterol, the benefits of wine, the pros and cons of fish consumption and more. Bancroft's lecture is full of tasty tidbits, historical highlights, and clinical information that can be applied to everyday use.

Bancroft is author of the books, "Medical Minutiae; An Apple a Day," "The ABCs of Diet and Disease" and Live a Little, Laugh a Lot." Attendees will then have the opportunity to pick two breakout sessions to attend.

Breakout Session I, choose one, "Never Miss a Beat: Preventing Heart Disease," "Your Healthiest Self at Any Age" or "Living the Life You Want."

Breakout Session II, choose one, "For Ladies Only-The Secrets of the Robot Sisterhood," "Midlife Madness: Managing the Ups and Downs on Perimenopause" and "Menopause and Living the Life You Want."

The cost is $25 per person. This price includes all activities, gifts and a gourmet lunch as well as snacks and beverages throughout the entire day.
