"Thoroughly Modern Millie," a Tony Award-winning musical comedy, take audiences back to the height of the jazz age in New York City.
Young Millie Dillmount has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when young "moderns" were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the work force and rewriting the rules of love. Based on the 1967 Julie Andrews movie, this stage version of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers.
Production staff for this show includes Director Jeanne O'Donnell, vocal director Dawn Harkins, choreographer Lynn Kalita, and music director Joe Blomquist.
To audition, prepare 32 measures of a Broadway song and bring your sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.
For the dance audition, dress to move and bring dance shoes if you have them. An audition application, conflict sheet and more information about the show are available online at risingstartheatre.org.
Rehearsals begin Monday, May 3 and will be at the RST studio in Geneva. Show dates are June 25-27 at the West Aurora High School Theatre, 1201 W. New York St. in Aurora.
