Hope for nation lies with Democrats

A note for those folks wondering if they’re going to vote in 2012: I’m voting to re-elect President Obama, even though we disagree on a few issues. But he’s still pretty good at his job. I’m (barely) grown up enough to know that I didn’t vote for a soul mate, and the choice that will come from the other side will be completely unacceptable.

Anyone not worth $2 million and yet planning a “protest” vote against President Obama is an ignorant chump; a “useful idiot” being played by a bizarre cabal of billionaires. Grow up. You never had friends on the right. Events in Wisconsin prove that beyond any shadow of doubt, and similar anti-worker drives in Ohio, Maine, Michigan and Florida are chilling confirmation.

Eight years of the most-recent Bush (because Dems weren’t thrilled with boring old Al Gore) should have warned you. Remember wars, financial ruin and an entire U.S. city thrown to the winds? Tea party Republicans railed against “big government,” and then proceeded to use that government to attack things that help you. They’re gutting your organizing rights. They’re still trying to gamble your Social Security on the stock market. They want to toss your Medicare into the same private health care industry that leaves 40 million or more Americans uncovered. They want to continue 30 years of the same old unconscionable tax breaks for the rich. Want to watch a Republican clam up? Just ask, “When is it going to trickle down?”

Your hope is where it always has been, with the Democratic Party. A few dozen billionaires led by a pair of shadowy brothers from Texas do not have your best interests in mind. How could they? What do they know of your lives?

And P.S., President Obama was born in Hawaii. Period.
