St. Matthew’s annual pig roast coming Sunday, Aug. 21

St. Matthew Lutheran Church will sponsor its 21st annual Pig Roast Sunday, Aug. 21, from noon to 5 p.m. at the church on Old McHenry Road, between Quentin and Midlothian roads in Hawthorn Woods.

In addition to the meal of roast pork, potato salad, baked beans and sweet corn, Culver’s Ice Cream will be on the midway again this year with ice cream cones and turtle sundaes.

Funnel cakes, hot dogs, ice tea, soda, wine and beer will also be available for an additional cost.

“Pete” Kovacvich of Gala Events will be part of the festivities again this year, entertaining with his balloon creations. Music will be provided by the Alpiners, who will be strolling the midway from noon to 3 p.m.

There also will be midway games, a spacewalk and bingo. A new addition this year is a “cake walk” sponsored by St. Matthew’s PTL.

Admission is $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 to 10 and free for kids younger than 4.
