Senior car clinic:A car clinic for people 60 and older will he held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Elgin Township office parking lot, 729 S. McLean Blvd., Elgin. A mechanic will check hoses, fluids, lights and other items during the 20 minute inspection, but no repairs will be made on site. The clinic also includes a car wash by South Elgin Police Explorers. Tickets are $50 to $95 and on sale at the Hemmens Box Office, 45 Symphony Way, online at hemmens.org, or by phone at (847) 931-5900.Grant for cop computers:The Carpentersville police department has received a grant for $20,502 from the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System to update computers in squad cars. The computers can access state and national crime files and intelligence databases and communicate with other law enforcement agencies statewide. Carpentersville Cmdr. Tim Bosshart said the department would purchase four computers. The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System has provided more than $3 million to 205 law enforcement agencies in the state for squad car computers. These funds came from the federal Homeland Security grants through the Illinois Terrorism Task Force.
