Palatine’s Hoofin’ 4 Hardy run/walk on Sunday
The third annual Hoofin’ 4 Hardy 5K run/2 mile walk will take place at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Birchwood Recreation Center and Park, 435 W. Illinois Ave., Palatine. The fundraiser honors the memory of Joshua Jared Hardy, a Fremd High School graduate and University of Illinois student who died suddenly in April 2009 of an undiagnosed heart ailment known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The nonprofit organization’s event has supported scholarships and a local no-kill animal shelter. The family hopes to eventually fund the testing of students to determine if they’re at-risk of the same ailment. The cost is $30 the day of the event. For more information, visit hoofin4hardy.org.
