One last game at Loyola's Alumni Gym

The Loyola University men's basketball team will play its exhibition game against Robert Morris on Nov. 6 at Alumni Gym for one last hurrah in the historic gymnasium.

Tip-off for the Ramblers' game versus the Eagles is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game had been scheduled to be plyaed at the Gentile Center.

The Ramblers played their final regular-season contest in Alumni Gym, which opened in 1924, on Feb. 19, 1996, when they upended UIC, 89-85. In November 1996, Loyola moved into the Gentile Center, its current home for both men's and women's basketball contests. From 1924-96, the Loyola men's basketball program compiled a 484-136 record in regular-season action at Alumni Gym.

Currently, Loyola's athletics offices, locker rooms, training room and weight room are housed in Alumni Gym, but when construction is completed on the Norville Center for Intercollegiate Athletics in early 2011, the athletics department will be vacating the tradition-rich facility. Both the Loyola women's and men's volleyball programs are playing their final seasons in Alumni Gym during the 2010-11 school year.
