Cops: Batavia man sold hallucinogenic mushrooms

A Batavia man was arrested Tuesday on charges of selling marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Batavia police arrested Christopher Lee Burden at 5:30 p.m. at his home in the 400 block of Park Street, after a monthlong investigation.

Burden, 30, is charged with possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, manufacturing or delivering cannabis within 1,000 feet of a park, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of Schedule I or II drugs, and possession of a nonnarcotic substance, according to a police report.

Undercover police officers purchased the drugs from Burden at several locations, including his home, according to the report.

All are felony charges, ranging from Class 2 to Class 4.

Bail information was not available late Wednesday afternoon. Burden was being held in the Kane County jail.

Police also arrested his brother, Todd, at the same time, on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
