Cardamone trial set for March 2012
A former gymnastics coach accused of inappropriately touching students at his family's gym in Aurora will face retrial in March 2012 — nearly a decade after he was first charged.
DuPage County Judge Blanche Hill Fawell on Friday set a March 6 trial date for Michael P. Cardamone, 34, who in 2005 was convicted of charges involving seven girls and acquitted of charges involving seven others. A state appeals court overturned his conviction and 20-year prison sentence in 2008, citing trial errors.
The case was first charged in December 2002.
