Green Choices Blog launched by Arlington Heights Library
Our Voices, Green Choices" is a new blog highlighting green projects and programs happening at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library. Visit www.ahml.info/green_choices_blog
The blog lists news about all kinds of "green living" topics, both locally and beyond. "We want to educate and inspire our community to embrace a greener lifestyle by sharing ideas and conversations with each other," says Linda Mulford, marketing specialist at AHML and author of the new Green Choices blog.
Topics include the Library's Small Electronics Recycling and Used Eyeglasses Recycling drives, upcoming "Growing Green" events, and "Reading Green" book discussions.
The blog also posts some Fun Green Facts:
• By recycling 10 cans per week, you save enough energy for 30 hours of TV watching per week.
• By recycling 4 Sunday papers per month, you save 4 trees per year.
• By recycling 15 plastic bottles per week, you save enough fiber to make 156 T-shirts per year.
• By recycling 1 glass bottle, you save enough energy to light a 100-watt light bulb for hours, power a computer for 30 minutes or a TV for 20 minutes.
