Hoffman Estates chamber launches new awards event

The Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce will recognize chamber businesses that set a high bar of excellence in the community.

The Celebration of Excellence is a new event that was created to reward and encourage businesses who invest in the community at large, grow the local economic base and improve the overall economic climate in the community.

“We really saw a need for a program like this because there are many previously unsung corporate heroes that make regular contributions to strengthen our local economy and community,” said Cheri Sisson, the executive director of the chamber. “Recognizing these businesses and individuals, I believe, inspires others to step up as well.”

The chamber’s Celebration of Excellence committee evaluated the entries based on the following criteria:

Ÿ The business supports and contributes to the mission of the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Ÿ The business works to support the community by stimulation of the economic growth in Hoffman Estates.

Ÿ The business works to improve the business environment of Hoffman Estates.

Ÿ The business contributes to the community with volunteering to support social, health or philanthropic works in an effort to better the community.

Awards will be given in five categories:

Ÿ Chamber Volunteer of the Year

Ÿ Small Business of the Year (1-50 employees)

Ÿ Mid-size Business of the Year (50-250 employees)

Ÿ Large Business of the Year (over 250 employees)

Ÿ Public Sector Partner of the Year

Finalists are listed online on the chamber’s website at hechamber.com. Anyone can vote by clicking on the voting link on the celebration invitation on the home page; voting ends Jan. 3.

The winners will be announced at the Celebration of Excellence Jan. 19, at the Chicago Marriott Northwest in Prairie Stone. For information, contact Cheri Sisson at (847) 781-9100.
