Teen gets 120 years in murders of CLTV host's parents
A judge in Crown Point, Ind., has handed down a 120-year prison sentence to the second of two Hammond, Ind., teenagers convicted of murdering the parents of former CLTV host Garrard McClendon.
Lake County Criminal Court Judge Clarence Murray imposed the sentence Thursday on 18-year-old Reo Thompson. The other teenager convicted in the case is 19-year-old Gregory Brooks Jr. and got an identical sentence Tuesday.
The Chicago Tribune says the two lived a few blocks away from the Hammond home of 76-year-old Ruby and 78-year-old Milton McClendon.
Thompson and Brooks both pleaded guilty last month to two counts of murder in the perpetration of a robbery. Their pleas came a year after the McClendons' bodies were found in a Cook County forest preserve in Calumet City, Ill.
