Hazen makes history for Warren girls lacrosse
Aubri Hazen made Warren history recently.
The senior signed a letter of intent to attend Indiana Tech next fall and play for the women’s lacrosse team.
She is the first Warren female athlete to earn a lacrosse scholarship.
Hazen, who carries a 3.4 GPA, was named all-conference the last two springs. She was the Blue Devils’ MVP last season and received the coach’s award in 2009 and 2010.
She had 35 goals and 32 assists last season.
“Aubri is going to fit in well with the team,” Indiana Tech coach Ed Karasek said. “Obviously, (she is) a very unselfish player. She is a triple threat. She has a great shot, she has a great pass and she can run like the wind.”
Hazen is also effective on faceoffs, winning 74 percent of her draws.
“This means possession,” Karasek said, “and possession is everything.”
Added Warren coach Catherine Catanzaro: “She is the player I would most like to clone, the player on the field that is the whole package.”
