Warner Brothers Home Video and TCM release new classic film collection

"TCM Greatest Classic Film Collection: Gangsters James Cagney"

In 2009, Warner Home Video and Turner Classic Movies began a partnership to release films in various themed groups. Each two-disc set includes four films and are priced at $27.92. Some of the categories are musicals, romantic comedies, romantic dramas, best picture, classic westerns, war, mysteries, sci-fi, horror, family and holiday films. The latest collection of James Cagney films includes: "White Heat," "Each Dawn I Die," "G Men" and "City For Conquest."

"TCM Greatest Classic Films: Gangsters Prohibition Era"

The four films are "The Roaring Twenties" with Humphrey Bogart and Ida Lupino, "Little Caesar" with Edward G. Robinson,"Smart Money" with James Cagney and Edward G. Robinson and "The Public Enemy" with James Cagney.

"TCM Greatest Classic Films: Hammer Horror"

Hammer Film Productions was a compnay in England that specialized in a series of gothic horror films that were made from the mid-1950s through the 1970s. Two of its stars were Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. The four films in this collection are "Dracula Has Risen From the Grave," "Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed," "Horror of Dracula" and "The Curse of Frankenstein."

"Steve McQueen Collection"

Steve McQueen was a versatile actor who appeared in comedies, dramas, westerns, action/adventure and war films. He began his acting carrer on Brodway, and his first starring role was in "The Blob." McQueen starred in "Wanted Dead or Alive" on television and it had a loyal following. The four films in the collection include: "Papillon," "Bullitt," "The Getaway" and "The Cincinnati Kid." Some of the bonuses are featurettes, interviews, trailers, commentaries and more.

"The Four Complete Ed Sullivan Shows starring The Beatles"

The Beatles had sold millions of records, and America was waiting to see and hear this group from Liverpool. On Sunday night, Feb. 9, 1964, over 86 percent of all televisions sets in America were tuned in to the Ed Sullivan Show. The Beatles appeared four times with Ed Sullivan, and the four shows have been remastered and restored for the best audio and video quality available. You will get the complete shows, original commercials and 13 minutes of additional footage. Some of the songs performed include "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "All My Loving," "Till There was You," "I Saw Her Standing There," "She Loves You," "This Boy," "From Me to You," "Twist and Shout," "Please Please Me" and more.

"Legends of the Canyon: Classic Artists"

In the '60s, there was an area of the Hollywood Hills that was known as Laurel Canyon. Many artists made their home there, and it was a community of love and inspiration. This terrific program takes us back with original photographs and rare footage of the era.
