Chicago Wolves come up short in overtime
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Chicago Wolves and Grand Rapids each netted 4 goals through two periods, but the homestanding Griffins notched the game-winner in overtime to claim a 5-4 victory Saturday night at Van Andel Arena.
Mark Mancari posted the sixth hat trick of his AHL career, and center Jordan Schroeder also scored for the Wolves, who saw their five-game road winning streak snapped.
Joakim Andersson’s second goal of the night at 3:17 of overtime gave Grand Rapids the extra point in the standings. He skated in alone from the blue line and snapped a shot over the glove of goaltender Matt Climie, who made 36 saves.
Bill Sweatt and Chris Tanev had assists for the Wolves (9-7-1-3), who host the Abbotsford Heat at 4 p.m. today at the Allstate Arena.
