Artists to demonstrate, discuss creative processes
Water Street Studios invites the community to visit the studios for "Second Saturday's - At the Studios," a unique opportunity to view works of art in progress as well as finished pieces. This open event will occur from 6 to 10 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. Different resident artists will be featured each month in their studio spaces to demonstrate their individual styles and share their creative process with guests.
Featured artists on March 13 will include Fred Ullrich, Frances M. Stilwagner, Donna Faye Evensen and Brian Jacobs. Information on featured artists as well as links to artist's Web sites can be found on the Water Street Studios Facebook page under "Events." This is an excellent opportunity to meet our artists, ask questions and purchase works. Snacks and refreshments will be provided and admission is free.
Fred Ullrich has been creating black-and-white photographs since 1970. He has studied fine art photography at Arizona State University and has participated in several fine art photographic workshops in the New England area. Fred holds a master of science in education degree from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb.
An award-winning artist, Fran Stilwagner works in oil, charcoal, soft pastel and acrylic. Her most recent works, however, are in oil pastel and oil stick. Fran's paintings elicit wonder and sensitivity to the natural world. Color and emotion are key elements in her work. Her objective is to grant the viewer their own interpretation of the images she paints. Fran's paintings can be viewed on her Web site atfranstilwagner.com. Now retired, Fran can focus on her true passion for painting and studying the arts. She has studied under George Shipperley, Roger Bechtold, Joan Darflinger and David Hettinger.
Donna Faye has traveled to Italy and France to study and paint from her heart. Her love for the canvas first appeared when she was quite young, though the joys of raising a family and the trials of everyday life caused her to put her time and abilities for painting aside. It was a little over twenty years ago that Donna Faye again picked up her paint brush and rediscovered her love and natural gift for the art. She owns and operates a Holistic Center, "Donna Faye, Inc." in Geneva. As a registered nurse and certified massage therapist, Donna believes that her painting is an extension of her daily healing work. Donna Faye uses her healing hands and heart to create color and life to each of her paintings.
