Arlington Heights plans roadside safety checks
As part of a Holiday Mobilization Grant awarded to the Arlington Heights Police Department, the following traffic enforcement activities will take place through March 21. The awarded grant funds supplement regular patrol units with additional patrol cars, and officers committed to seeking impaired drivers.
Roadside Safety Checkpoints will be conducted on Friday, March 12, along South Arlington Heights Road, and on Friday, March 19, along West Dundee Road. The checkpoints will begin shortly after 11 p.m., and continue through 4 a.m. During the Roadside Safety Checkpoints, officers will slow traffic, stopping cars at predetermined intervals. In addition to the Roadside Safety Checkpoints, several DUI Saturation Patrols will be conducted during the enforcement period. The awarded grant funds supplement regular patrol units with additional patrol cars, and officers committed to seeking impaired drivers.
The Arlington Heights Police Department is committed to traffic safety. The purpose of the program is to identify motorists who chose to drive while under the influence of alcohol, and/or drugs, The You Drink, & Drive, You Lose, St. Patrick's Day Holiday Campaign, is funded by a grant from the National Highway Safety Administration and the Illinois Department of Transportation - Division of Traffic Safety.
