Body pulled from Des Plaines River

FOREST PARK — Authorities in suburban Chicago are investigating the death of a man whose body was pulled from the Des Plaines River.

Officials with the Cook County medical examiner's office say the unidentified male was found in the river where it passes through Forest Park on Tuesday.

A spokeswoman with the medical examiner's office tells the Chicago Tribune it isn't clear how long the body was in the water. But she says it was decomposed to the point that the person's age and race couldn't immediately be determined.

An autopsy is planned.
