Bandits set May 28 tryouts date

The Chicago Bandits will again hold open tryouts for the 2011 season.

“This is a great chance for us to fill our final roster spot,” said Bandits general manager Aaron Moore. “Many teams throughout the league have found some good players through the tryout and we’re hoping to do the same this season.”

The tryouts, on May 28, are open to women age 21 or older and all participants must bring official identification for verification purposes. A location for the tryouts is still to be determined.

The tryouts are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. May 28 and will cost $40 per applicant. Participants will run through several skill areas from 9 a.m. to noon and several players will be invited back to participate in live game action beginning at 1 p.m.

If a player earns a roster spot and signs a contract, it would nullify all college eligibility.

If a contract is offered, that player must be prepared to report to the team by June 1.

Advance registration is required and available at chicagobandits.com.

Last year, Palatine native and Northwestern University alum Nicole Pauly was selected after her performance at the open tryout. Pauly appeared in 31 games for the Bandits in 2010, hitting .302 with 1 home run and 8 RBI. Pauly has signed to play in Akron this season.

“We’re looking for a player that is passionate, competitive and can contribute to the team,” said Moore. “We’re also looking for a multi-tool player who can play possibly several positions.”
