Circus comes to Rosemont
The south side of Des Plaines on Wednesday featured an unusual commuter 60,000 pounds of pachyderm walking to work.
Elephants with the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus lumbered east on Howard Avenue and made the turn onto Lee Street Wednesday morning, on their way to the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, their home for the next week.
The parade started about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Howard Avenue and Wolf Road in Des Plaines, went east on Howard to Lee, south to Touhy, east to Chestnut and south to the Allstate Arena, where the circus will be in residence through Sunday, Nov. 14.
After that the circus moves to the United Center in Chicago.
