Opening FOID list is dangerous
Attorney General Lisa Madigan just put everybody in Illinois at personal risk, if the Illinois State Police release the FOID gun ownership list to the public as she just demanded.
The liberals that don’t understand the sanctity of the second amendment are thrilled with Madigan’s decision. They think it will hurt and “expose” gun owners to public scorn.
They miss two points. Gun owners have been dealing with grief from liberals for decades and it is like “water off a duck.” But most important, that list will put those liberals at great risk.
Here is how. States that have passed legal gun carry laws have always seen crime rates go down. Why? Because criminals do not like the idea of attacking a citizen who can defend themselves with a gun. Once they have a list of who has guns, they can make sure that a potential victim can’t defend themselves. They will skip those that can defend themselves with a gun and go for the defenseless. Like the naive liberals that are against the Second Amendment.
Wouldn’t you if you were a criminal? Madigan put gun owners at some risk because criminals may target them to steal their guns, but that strategy carries high risk because the potential victim can suddenly turn into a lion and end the criminal’s career.
Thankfully, the state police are resisting Madigan as they live in the real world and are considering a legal challenge to her. To those that understand the real world and the concept of privacy, Madigan’s ruling is unconstitutional and puts the public at greater risk.
It is time to end this bizarre ruling and condemn both Madigan and the AP who requested the FOID list for invasion of privacy and for putting the public at risk.
