Shabby treatment by library candidates

I have lived in Carol Stream since 1987. In fact, I love Carol Stream so much that I am in my third home within the village. I have also been a member of the Carol Stream Woman’s Club for 20 years. As a proud member of the CSWC, residents need to know how much this organization has done for the community.

We started when the village started. The CSWC put out the first community newsletter. We designed and raised money to build the brick entrance when the village was young. The CSWC provided bookmobiles to the citizens before there was a library. In fact, we were instrumental in starting the Carol Stream Library, getting the land donated for the Aldrin Center, and providing much needed volunteers to help grow this village.

We clean Kuhn Road four times a year, we adopt Barb O’Rahilly Volunteer Park, we raise money for Carol Stream Christmas Sharing, the Outreach Center and we support a female senior citizen who lives in Carol Stream through the Humanitarian Service Project.

Our members have and still do head PTAs, run fun fairs, held elected office on school and the library boards. To have some of the residents running for Carol Stream Library board disrespect our organization, which has done so much good for this community, is beyond words. The CSWC has run candidate forums for local elections since the inception of our club 52 years ago. We have never received this kind of treatment from any of the candidates we have invited in the past.
