Wolves a 4-0 winner
The Chicago Wolves’ special teams clicked and goaltender Edward Pasquale recorded his first career shutout in a 4-0 win over the Oklahoma City Barons at the Allstate Arena on Sunday.
The Wolves (36-26-3-6) and the Barons (36-26-2-7) are tied in the AHL’s West Division standings with 81 points as they battle for the final playoff spot.
Pasquale (9-7-1) stopped 34 shots as he notched the Wolves’ first shutout of the season.
Jason Krog scored a pair, including a power-play goal. Mark Matheson also scored on the power play and Tim Miller added a shorthanded goal for the Wolves (36-26-3-6), who bounced back from a 4-3 loss to the Barons on Saturday.
“It was a different attitude today, there was a real work ethic,” said Wolves coach Don Lever. “We responded well. Our defense was solid around the net and Eddie did a very nice job.”
Miller gave Chicago a 1-0 lead with his shorthanded goal 11:37 into the first period past Barons goalie Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers as Darren Haydar asssisted. Krog scored on the power play at 11:13 of the second period as Haydar assisted.
Matheson’s power-play goal 1:25 later also included a Haydar assist.
