Meeks, Germann, M. Mahoney for Round Lake Hts.

Round Lake Heights’ population has nearly doubled since 2000 to 2,676 people. In those 10 years, the village’s leadership has been largely the same. Two of those leaders — 18-year incumbent Marva Meeks and 12-year incumbent Jack Germann — are running with challenger Dominick Mahoney, also active in the village, as the “Building a Better Tomorrow Party.” They answered our questions only in writing as a single party. They seem to be more concerned with maintaining what the village is now rather than “building a better tomorrow.” But the village appears to be in good shape. That bodes well, too, for the fourth candidate, Mike Mahoney, a trustee for more than 10 years. He didn’t respond to our queries; we had to go to the village’s website for details. But we don’t see a reason Dominick Mahoney should unseat Mike Mahoney. So we endorse incumbents Meeks, Germann and Mike Mahoney.
