Village asks voters to consider term limits advisory referendum

The village of Lombard will be asking the voters to consider an advisory referendum on the April 5, 2011 ballot. The referendum asks voters whether or not they would like to have term limits for village of Lombard elected officials and the manner in which to consider this is through a referendum on a future ballot.

The advisory referendum states: “Shall the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Lombard adopt a resolution to provide for a binding referendum at a future election that limits the terms of office for those persons elected to the offices of Village President, Village Clerk or Trustee in the Village of Lombard, such that no person so elected may serve more than three consecutive full four-year terms in the same office?”

The results of the advisory referendum will be discussed by the Village Board for future action.
