Palatine police report traffic arrests, violations
Palatine police arrested eight motorists on driving under the influence charges during its St. Patrick’s Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign, funded through an Illinois Department of Transportation grant, police said.
The campaign put additional officers on patrol to take intoxicated drivers off the roads and enforce speeding and seat belt laws. Besides the DUIs, police arrested four drivers for having suspended, revoked or no valid drivers licenses and one for drug offenses, according to police.
Officers also issued 51 tickets for seat belt violations, two for child safety restraint violations, 16 for driving without insurance, 19 for speeding, one for open alcohol in a vehicle and 42 for other violations. One motorist was charged with an undisclosed felony and another for reckless driving, police said.
