Dolly Vole always accessible; listens to residents
I am a member of a larger group of residents who opposed a controversial multifamily development in our single-family neighborhood. One of the very few elected officials who was responsive to our concerns was newly elected Alderman Dolly Vole.
We subsequently supported Dolly’s candidacy in the special mayoral election held two years ago. Dolly was elected mayor at a time when our city found itself in the worse financial situation in its history.
Among the contributing factors — a terrible economy; previous city administrations’ poor long-term fiscal planning and flagrant overspending; no property tax paid to fund the city’s operations; and severely reduced revenues.
Dolly stepped up to the plate and has taken measures necessary for the survival of Prospect Heights — something that previous mayors never had the courage to do.
While some of these austerity measures may not be popular, just as those being taken in most of our households, Dolly has the courage to do what needs to be done. Dolly has honored her commitments for a government that is open, fiscally responsible, and welcomes our participation.
I have personally witnessed her dedicated service through my work on our city’s Human Relations Commission and as a volunteer for the Economic & Business Development Committee, Friends of McDonald Creek and Nature-Palooza.
Dolly is a truly accessible mayor — her door at City Hall is open to all; her contact number is her personal phone and she directly returns your calls. I am genuinely impressed by Dolly’s leadership and dedication to us residents and our city. I wholeheartedly support her for re-election and ask for your vote on Tuesday.
Dolly Vole truly deserves a full term as mayor of Prospect Heights.
