Clothing trapped in closed cleaners available

An Arlington Heights cleaners that closed in early January has reopened with a new owner, making it possible for customers to reclaim their clothing.

The new name of the business is Kely Cleaners. It is the former White Water Cleaners, in a strip mall on Arlington Heights Road north of Golf Road.

The business has been taken over by Kely Ibrahim, who says he has been in the cleaning business for 40 years, with Kely Cleaners in Skokie and Sparkle Cleaners in Evanston.

Owners of clothing left in White Water when the owners departed must present identification that matches the ticket on a cleaning order.

They will be charged for the cleaning, Ibrahim said Wednesday.

Only about five people came to get their orders on Tuesday and Wednesday, he said.

Authorities believe the owners of White Water left the United States permanently, said Peter Troost, representing the owner of the mall. He was given access to the property last month through an eviction process.
