Huffo reflects on a great half century
In the first week of April 1961 I was asked, by a political group, to don a clown suit which I did. I handed out fliers and candy and had a great time. Don’t know what happened to that group, but I was hooked and continued on as Huffo the Clown.
Now, the first week in April will mark Huffo’s 50th year. Who would have thought it?
If you see fit to print this letter it will give me a way to thank all the people who have been a part of that lifetime; I start with The Herald because, over the years, you have given me coverage for different things I was involved in.
Next, the thousands of kids I’ve been allowed to interact with, some who are grandparents now. Also, the parents who allowed me to be a part of their kids’ growing up.
Mostly I thank all the people from Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Palatine, Hoffman Estates, Des Plaines, Chicago and of course my home city of Rolling Meadows, for giving me many venues to perform at. Thank you all for everything.
One more thanks to NWSRA and Special Olympics for showing me how much love is returned for the love you give.
So, as Huffo reaches 50 and I reach 83 we both thank you for having us around. If God sees fit to keep me healthy this clown will keep on going for a long time.
