Peavy hoping MRI gives him good news

Jake Peavy is sick and tired of seeing Herm Schneider.

Maybe that's why the injury-prone starter keeps trying to pitch through various aliments, so he can avoid the White Sox' longtime trainer.

Back on the disabled list with a strained right groin, Peavy said he's been in the trainer's room daily from 2-10 p.m.

“I mean I've honestly been a prisoner in there,” Peavy said. “I'll do what it takes to be healthy, but I told Hermie I'm going to have bed sores by the time I get off this DL.”

Peavy is at least another week away from rejoining the Sox.

He said the groin area is still sore despite all of the treatment and is hoping a second MRI on Monday brings better news.

“If the MRI reads well Monday I can try to test it, maybe get on the mound and maybe miss only one or so starts.” Peavy said. “That's what I'm hoping.”

While he would like to head directly back into the White Sox' starting rotation, Peavy is going to need yet another rehab start with Class AAA Charlotte.

“I'll try to have a good one and make the Triple-A all-star team,” Peavy cracked. “I begged and begged to get out of the Charlotte trip but Kenny just said there's no way. He said, ‘I know you won't go the same speed in the bullpen as you will in a game.'

“He said, ‘I want to get you into a game, I want you to have to cover first, I want you to exert the same energy you exert at Charlotte before I activate you.' Kenny's the boss. Just do what you're told, you know?”

Taking a swing at Walker critics:Ozzie Guillen was talking about Paul Konerko having another standout season Friday when he shifted gears and took a swipe at hitting coach Greg Walker's critics.#8220;Why doesn't anybody give Greg Walker any credit?#8221; Guillen asked. #8220;It's Greg Walker's fault because of (Adam) Dunn and (Alex) Rios and other guys. How about a little love for Greg Walker, (since) he's been working with PK (Paul Konerko) for so many years? How about that? Let's talk about Greg Walker and how good he is, not just talk negative about how bad we are.#8221;Stand up and cheer:The home fans have booed Adam Dunn louder than any other White Sox player in recent memory.The slumping designated hitter never played in a big market before landing on the South Side this season, but Dunn said he has been booed before.#8220;I played in Cincinnati for a while,#8221; Dunn said. #8220;I heard it pretty good.#8221;Before hitting his first home run at U.S. Cellular Field since May 1 on Thursday night, Dunn was hit by a pitch and mockingly cheered for getting on base.#8220;When he got hit by the pitch and fans were excited about it, they clapped, that hurt my feelings,#8221; manager Ozzie Guillen said. #8220;How are you going to be happy when somebody gets hit? Fans want to see him to produce. To play this game you've got to have a thick skin and you've got to make sure you prepare mentally to overcome and survive this game.#8221;
