Three stabbed outside Elgin bar
Two men remain in critical condition after a 24-year-old Pingree Grove man stabbed one in the throat and the other in the chest outside an Elgin bar early Saturday morning, according to police.
Daniel D. Sanchez of the 1000 block of Port Royal Road has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after police arrested him about 2:25 a.m. Saturday outside the Tilted Kilt, according to police.
A passer-by alerted police to an altercation in progress in the parking lot outside the bar at 2300 Bushwood Drive, and responding officers found three victims who had been stabbed and a fourth victim with nonlife-threatening neck injuries, police said.
A 23-year-old Burlington man was stabbed in the chest, and a 24-year-old Elgin man was stabbed in the throat, Elgin spokeswoman Sue Olafson said. Both were taken to local hospitals in critical condition.
A 29-year-old Streamwood woman was treated at the scene with a stab wound and released, Olafson said.
A preliminary investigation indicated a shouting match proceeded the stabbing. Police said other people might have been involved in the crime.
Sanchez also was charged with two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
He appeared in bond court Sunday morning, where bail was set at $500,000, Olafson said.
Police are urging anyone with information to call Detective Scott St. John at (847) 289-2619.
