I have been a volunteer on the Plan Commission for almost 11 years, I was a part of the team which revised the Appearance Review Guide and I am a part of the ART Team, I have been in Real Estate Development/ Property Management for about 25 years and I am a small business owner. Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.The local sales tax in Buffalo Grove is just right at the 2% we get from the state and the Home Rule contribution. Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.I have been talking with numerous residents and there are does not appear to be safety concerns.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The Village Board has an obligation to review all budget costs and give them careful consideration to ensure that we maintain the high quality of our schools and our local services in an efficient manner. We have a $60 million balanced budget which is a great position to be in.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I think our community is a great right now but I would like to try to re-brand Buffalo Grove improve our efforts to become more of a retail and restaurant destination.
