Buffalo Grove asks for plow help
Buffalo Grove crews have completed primary plowing of all streets within the community and now are working through the day to push snow behind the curb line.
It is very important that snow be cleared curb to curb to provide proper drainage and mitigate flooding once the snow melt begins.
As snow is pushed back toward the curbs, residents will continue to experience snow deposits in their driveway approaches, which the village apologized for but said unavoidable.
Plow crews have begun salting, but given the frigid temperatures, residents should not expect to see bare pavement in most areas for several days.
Many disabled and elderly residents may need assistance in clearing their driveways. If individuals or groups are interested in volunteering to assist elderly and disabled households with snow removal, they're asked to call village hall at (847) 459-2525.
Mailboxes damaged by a snowplow should be reported at (847) 459-2545t. Mailbox repairs will be made after the snow control plan has been completed.
Use caution and wear bright colors when working or playing around large snow piles. Children shouldn't play near the roadway.
Residents with high-efficiency furnaces or clothes dryers should check exterior intake and exhaust vents to be sure they aren't clogged with snow, which could lead to toxic concentrations of fumes or overheating and structure fires.
