Register for spring soccer March 2, 5
The Villa Park Recreation Department will hold in-person registration for the spring soccer season from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 2 and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 5 at the Iowa Community Center, 338 N. Iowa.
The spring season features a seven game season, with games on Saturday mornings beginning April 9.
Teams practice one day per week between 4:30 and 7:30 pm. Teams are co-rec and are determined on a random basis. Players need to purchase a reversible jersey for $15 or obtain a used one through the equipment exchange program.
Program Supervisor Steve Munsie said, "with another harsh winter winding down, I'm excited to start talking about the youth soccer season. I have had a lot of positive feedback about the in-person registration process, now in its second year. It gets people excited about the season and allows people to submit friend requests and purchase equipment and apparel from Soccer 2000 who will be on-site."
The seventh- and eighth-grade age group plays in the Mid Suburban Soccer League and plays teams from Addison, Glendale Heights, Itasca, Medinah, Roselle and Wood Dale. Games are played in Villa Park and the participating communities.
"The upcoming spring season looks to be as exciting as ever. The seventh- and eighth-graders are looking forward to the second season of competing in the Mid Suburban Soccer League and playing games in the Willowbrook High School Stadium. Our youngest players, the 4 1/2 year olds are also excited to get back on the field," said Munsie.
The fee for spring soccer is $42 during in-person registration; $52 during open registration March 7-16.
