Obama’s selective in support of the people
President Obama has embraced the protesters in Egypt and put tremendous pressure on President Mubarak to respect them and put in place democratic processes. Egypt is a critical U.S. ally and has supported our war against terror and the peace process with Israel.
Obama’s position on this is fine as there should be more democracy in Egypt and he has handled it well so far. Unfortunately, Obama has not shown the same interest in the voice of the people concerning our enemies or our own people.
Protesters in Iran put their lives at risk protesting across the nation against the medieval cruelty that Iran has used against its own people and to protest a crooked election. Iran is a nation that executes gay people for being gay, stones women to death for adultery, is building a nuclear bomb to hold the world hostage, and has financed and armed murderous terrorists all over the world.
Had Obama encouraged the protesters in Iran, many thought that they may have been able to overthrow the horrible Iranian government. Obama’s response to Iranian protesters? Nothing. Zip. Nada.
Hundreds were killed or sent to prison and the protests died with no support from Obama. The US had its own protests. Hundreds of thousands of tea party people peacefully protested all over the U.S. against the horrific deficit spending of an out-of-control government, the Obama administration’s unconstitutional grab of power, and the decline of traditional American values.
Obama sat quietly on the sidelines as the tea party people were called racists, Nazis, Neanderthals, astro turf frauds, etc., by his own party and the media. It seems like President Obama is only for the voice of the people when it is convenient to him, not for freedom and democracy.
