Family of Prospect Heights man killed at Libertyville hospital sues
The estate and family of a 26-year-old Prospect Heights man crushed to death nearly three months ago at a Libertyville hospital construction site have filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court seeking at least $600,000 in damages.
Advocate Condell Medical Center employee Rajmund Zalewa was killed Nov. 16 after heavy lead-lined drywall sheets used for the renovation of an X-ray room fell on top of him in a hospital storage area.
Estate Administrator Antoni Zalewa is suing Pepper Construction Co., Pepper Construction Group and subcontractor RG Construction Service, which were working on the hospital addition.
The estate is seeking a minimum $50,000 for each of 12 counts of negligence and wrongful death alleged in the lawsuit.
Pepper spokesman Tom O’Leary declined to comment.
Rajmund Zalewa worked in the hospital’s environmental services department. Neither his family nor Condell, which was not named a defendant in the suit, could be reached for comment.
