Green Energy Expo Saturday in Batavia
Local firms who offer environmentally friendly energy-related products will be featured at the Green Energy Expo Saturday in Batavia.
The event, organized by the chamber of commerce, is from noon to 3 p.m. at the Batavia Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.
Before the expo one of the exhibitors, New Edison Energy, will set up a small hybrid wind turbine-solar panel outside the library that will power LED lights on its pole.
So far Pro Energy Consultants, Confident Air, Vasilion Architects, Lane Allen Architects, the Batavia Environmental Commission (BEC) and Davey Tree service have signed up for spots.
The main focus is on energy savings and Earth-friendly options, according to the chamber’s Shirley Anne Mott.
Also, Marsh Products will discuss its water conservation products, including a device that converts old water-hogging single-flush toilets into two-flushers that use less water while still moving solid waste along capably.
“Batavia has done a good job of promoting sustainable practices,” according to Lane Allen of Allen and Pepa Architects. “With the Green Energy Expo we can help everyone find partners in energy conservation.”
The BEC will answer questions about what it does and two upcoming events, the “Green Night Out at the Movies” March 5 and Earth Hour March 26.
Exhibitors will show energy audits, use a tree benefit calculator, discuss the paper savings from using an electronic air filter instead of paper filters for furnaces, show building products such as LED lighting, and review the concept of conserving energy by decreasing urban sprawl and more.
