Northern Illinois (7-13, 3-5) at Ohio (10-12, 3-5)

When: 2 p.m. at OU’s Convocation Center

Radio: WSCR 670-AM

The skinny: When the season began, everyone expected big things of Ohio after its NCAA Tournament run that featured a first-round whipping of Georgetown. That hasn’t happened despite the yeoman work by sophomore PG D.J. Cooper from Chicago (who played with NIU’s Tony Nixon at Seton Academy). Cooper leads the nation with 7.7 assists per game to go with 17.6 points and 2.4 steals. However, he’s also shooting just 39 percent overall and 30 percent on 3s. NIU expects to regain the services of starters Tim Toler and Jeremy Landers. They missed Wednesday’s overtime loss to Bowling Green due to illness. That forced the Huskies to change their lineup for the first time since before Thanksgiving.
