Alarm foils burglary at Enchanted Castle in Lombard

Motion sensors foiled a St. Charles man’s attempt to burglarize Enchanted Castle in Lombard by hiding in the business until after hours, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Anthony R. Ledesma, 25, of the 1100 block of Geneva Road, was being held in DuPage County jail on a felony burglary charge.

Ledesma was arrested late Monday after motion detectors triggered a police response at Enchanted Castle, a theme restaurant and arcade at Roosevelt Road and Main Street in Lombard.

Ledesma, after riding a train from Geneva to Lombard, entered the business during regular hours and hid, Assistant State’s Attorney Kirsten King said. Once the business closed, he set off an alarm by trying to approach the cash registers.

King said Ledesma tried to flee but police found him hiding by a trash bin not far away by following footprints in the snow.

“He gave a full confession,” she said.

DuPage Judge Michael Wolfe set Ledesma’s bail at $15,000. He would have to post $1,500 to be released while the case is pending
