Palatine’s Frame Corner to close
The Frame Corner, in Downtown Palatine, will be closing its doors on March 31, after more than 25 years. A huge art liquidation sale is now in progress, with hundreds of items on sale for up to 90 percent off. Mirrors, store furniture and fixtures will also be sold.
“We’d like to thank our customers for their support over the years,” said Judy Gibbs, who owns and operates the store with her husband Bruce. According to Gibbs, the recent economic downturn slowed framing and art sales dramatically.
“These are discretionary purchases and consumers in our area were especially hard hit by the recession,” said Gibbs.
Custom framing of artwork, photographs, memorabilia can be ordered through Friday, March 19. The Frame Corner’s large inventory of original art, signed/limited edition prints, lithographs, fine art prints, posters and photography will be drastically reduced and on sale through Thursday, March 31. The collection includes both framed and unframed items.
“This is a rare opportunity to purchase deeply discounted original paintings and prints from artists such as Edna Hibel, Steve Hanks, Frane Mlinar, Mark McMahon, Dave Barnhouse and Tom Lynch,” added Gibbs.
The Frame Corner is at 34 W. Palatine Road, just west of Plum Grove Road in downtown Palatine. Store hours are 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
