Lake County declared disaster area

Lake County Board Chairman David Stolman has proclaimed a state of Disaster in Lake County. It remains a very dangerous weather situation. Roads across Lake County are impassable to traffic the public is advised to stay off the roads, unless it is absolutely necessary, according to a news release. While snow plows are working to clear roads, driving will be nearly impossible all day Wednesday. All resources are being used to reach stranded motorists, according to the release. More than 150 people have been rescued from abandoned vehicles. Stranded motorists should remain with their vehicle. Lake County Emergency Management has issued a civil emergency message through the Emergency Alert System, as follows: #147;Due to the blizzard last night many roads across Lake County are impassable to traffic. While snowplow crews are working to open roads, driving will continue to be nearly impossible for the rest of the day. If you are stranded do not leave your vehicle. Run your vehicle 10 minutes per hour. Make sure your exhaust pipe is now snow-covered and crack open a downwind window for ventilation. All resources are being used to reach stranded motorists. Please do not drive unless absolutely necessary. Doing so will put your life at risk. This civil emergency message will remain in effect through 5 p.m. today. This remains a very dangerous weather situation.#148;
