Snappers stop Cougars
Looking for their first three-game winning streak and series sweep of the season, the Kane County Cougars started fast but lost 10-3 Thursday to the Beloit Snappers at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva.
Ryan Stovall gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a run-scoring double. Stovall and Ryan Jenkins hit back-to-back homers in the third to make it 3-0.
Cougars starter Robert Penny (0-3) got out of jams in each of the first three innings before yielding 3 unearned runs in the fourth and 4 earned runs in the fifth.
