Dust off all your vintage guitars for collectors show
The International Vintage Guitar Collectors Association will be coming to Elgin from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 3, and Friday, March 2, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Country Inn & Suites, 2270 Point Blvd. in Elgin. For details, call (217) 726-7590.
Guitar collectors from all over the world are paying more money than ever for vintage guitars of all types, including Fender, Martin, Gibson, Gretsch, Dobro and others.
The IVGCA has recently uncovered some rare guitars that could be hiding in a closet, attic or basement near you. A 1960 Gibson Les Paul guitar sold for $100,000, a 1961 Gibson Les Paul SG sold for $25,000 and a 1954 Shore Line Gold Telecaster sold for $19,000.
Elgin is the next stop for the IVGCA’s world tour. During this event at the Country Inn & Suites, the collectors are hoping to see items such as guitars, amps, mandolins, bass guitars, saxophones, and all other types of musical instruments.
Their specialty is guitars, but they also have collectors in all other types of musical instruments.
These items are highly sought after by collectors from around the world.
You can connect with collectors from around the globe. Then, when someone decides to sell, they get paid on the spot and the experts send the item to the collector at their expense.
When going through your attics and closets, you could come across the next big find.
If you have an old Martin Acoustic guitar that hasn’t been played in years, or a brand new Fender that you don’t want collecting dust, bring it down to the show and let an expert evaluate it.
