Wis. man to be sentenced for slayings of 7 women
MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee man convicted of killing seven women over 21 years is scheduled to be sentenced.
Fifty-year-old Walter E. Ellis faces a mandatory life sentence on Thursday. The judge will have the option of granting the possibility for parole, but he's not likely to do so.
Ellis was convicted of first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree murder last week after pleading no contest to the killings that occurred between 1986 and 2007.
His case drew extra scrutiny after it was revealed that his DNA had been missing from a state database from an earlier prison stint. Police have said if they had that sample they may have been able to track Ellis down before the last slaying, in 2007.
