Round Lake Fire dept. asks for help in clearing hydrants
Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District is asking residents to help remove snow from around hydrants. They said the important task can be called “Adopt a Hydrant.” “Fire hydrants are an important tool at a working fire,” said Paula Rohrs, the district's public education coordinator.
“Without water, fire suppression is nearly impossible.” She said the blizzard has created a problem with snow-covered hydrants. She said it's illegal for driveway or parking lot plowers to push snow or otherwise block access to a fire hydrant. Rohrs said residents should keep hydrants free of snow and report any that are damaged or leaking water. She said the area hydrants should be free of all obstructions.
