Bensenville is similar to an individual living next to a rich, loud bully. We must continue to try to work with Chicago while keeping a close eye on what that neighbor is doing. The issues that still are important, today, are Irving Park Road, the underpass at Irving and York, berms along the west and south sides of the airport, noise abatement, ground water abatement, increase traffic into the western terminal, noise abatement, increase air pollution, increased water pollution, decreased possibilities for photosynthesis, noise abatement, possible terrorism target, and if I missed it, noise abatement. Last night/this morning, I heard jet engines revving at 3:30 AM and 4:30 AM.Having been on the board for 8 years, I find it quite amazing that I have yet been asked to meet with my peers from Chicago. I have never had a chance to speak with Rosie face to face.I think the courts are the worst place to make decisions and decisions should have been made years ago by those involved and not the courts.Talk to me Chicago and lets keep moving forward.By the way, our sound abatement in the schools is more than a decade old, isn't it getting time to redo some of it?Is the $11 million that will be used to improve the industrial park the best use of borrowed funds? What should be a priority?Monies are often borrowed to improve infrastructure. Roads, water, sewer and lighting need to be key issues. Water and sewer can be one issue we might be able to work out with Chicago. How do you propose keeping Bensenville a viable residential community with all the industrial growth and expansion of O'Hare airport happening near the village?Every community needs to have a range of housing opportunities for residents. Starter homes, up-scaled housing, senior houses and rentals are all part of the scheme. We have many starter homes, houses appropriate for seniors and quite a few rentals. We need to improve the up-scaled housing for those that might own the properties in the industrial area. At the same time, we need to insure that the housing would be appropriate for the staff of the industrial area. This would minimize travel time and be generally a ""greener"" situation. You need to live somewhere, why not live near your place of employment? The question is, what type of industrial growth should be our focus?Once the $64 million project begins to fix the bottleneck of Irving Park and York roads and the Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks, what is the best way to alleviate the effect construction will have on local businesses? That issue might be best solved by those with more experience in the field. This type of construction is not a new idea.Bensenville teamed up with Wood Dale and Elmhurst to create Liberty Fest last year for Fourth of July. What else could the village do to maintain the quality of life in this tough economy while also cutting costs?Share Park District resources and activities. If you are resident of Bensenville Park District, you might be entitled to residential fees in the other park district and thus reduce redundancy of programming or improvement of programming.Shared municipal dispatch systemsShared alarm boardsShare larger equipment between public worksHave semi-annual meetings between similar taxing bodies to discuss ways to save moniesSupport the educational systems in all villages.
