The repeal of the Red Light Cameras is central to that goal. Red light Cameras are no way to treat the residents and welcome guests to our community. The Village of Gurnee depends on sales tax from shopping and tourism for the majority of the revenues, so the last thing we want to do is install cameras and irritate those guests.Key Issue 2 Excessive taxes and fees. The people of Gurnee are not ATM machines. Too often local and state govenments look for ways to fleece the population rather than live within their means. The increase in the telecom tax is a good example where the Village arbitrarily increased taxes on the residents from 1 to 6%. I oppose such incremental taxes.Key Issue 3 Enhancing the community of the Village of Gurnee with events such as 4th of July fireworks and promoting the Farmer's Market / Gurnee Days. I believe it is events like these that bring us together as a community and should be focused on.Questions Answers How do you view Gurnee Mills#146; performance in the village?I view Gurnee Mills as great partner with a potential to be even better. We must work to promote Gurnee Mills as the primary shopping destination for the surrounding communities.Where do you stand on the village#146;s red-light camera program?Adamant opposition. Red light Cameras are no way to treat the residents and welcome guests to our community.Tell us your ideas about the future of the East Grand Avenue corridor.Shopping and tourism are the main drivers of the economy in Gurnee. Any development for the East Grand Ave. corridor should be evaluated on the basis of how it enhances the lives of the residents. What should the village do about empty space intended for the Heroes of Freedom Memorial?Honoring the Men and Women that have served our country is a noble pursuit. Once elected I will work with all parties to find an equitable solution. Are you committed to keeping a local sales tax and not reimposing a property tax? Explain your answer.I stand firmly against any increase in taxes on the already over burdened residents of Gurnee. Continous incremental taxation takes from a person, little by little, their economic freedoms. Residents and businesses have already been hit by a massive tax increases by the State of Illinois. We can not afford any further increases.
