Northwestern scouting report
Iowa (10-15, 3-10) at Northwestern (14-10, 4-9)
When: 8 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena
TV: BTN
Radio: WGN 720-AM
The skinny: The Wildcats are coming off disappointing losses at Michigan and Penn State — and coach Bill Carmody admits he made a “strategic error” in maintaining the team’s plan to play at a slower pace than earlier in the year. Carmody will rectify that tonight for several reasons, including the fact John Shurna had his best practice in six weeks Tuesday and the fact the Wildcats ran their Princeton-style offense so quickly and crisply in the 90-71 victory Jan. 12 at Iowa. The Hawkeyes have improved considerably in the five weeks since their first meeting. Freshman Melsahn Basabe (10.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 56.0 FG percentage) is among the youngsters playing better.
