Chicago police warn of illegal skimmers on ATMs
Chicago police have issued a warning about illegal skimming devices being placed on ATMs in the city.
Officers say two of the skimming devices, which are used to illegally record personal identity information, were found earlier this week on an ATM on North Lincoln Avenue. They tell the Chicago Tribune the devices were found after the victim attempted to withdraw money from the machine and two of them fell from the ATM.
Business owners are being asked to contact the supplier of the ATM and ask for periodic checks of the machines to make sure they are not compromised.
